Just as the project was in full swing, the rumors had exploded into reality. Millions of imported children’s products were recalled in 2006 and 2007, millions more in 2008 and 2009.  Now, at the start of 2010, we are again seeing everything from recalls of imported kid’s jewelry containing cadmium, to imported toys painted with lead-based paint, to dangerous furniture, to unsafe imported apparel.

   Made Here, Baby! was the result of hours upon hours of research and hundreds of interviews, just so we could enable parents to have a real choice in what they were buying for their children.  No company paid to get into my book.  Unlike many of the so-called American manufacturing Web sites, I never took a dime of any manufacturer’s advertising money. In fact I rejected several companies when their information didn’t seem quite right.
